small tools, one committed a day

Can I afford it?

The real price of a thing isn't the number on the tag — it's the hours of your working life you trade for it. Enter what you earn and a price, and see the purchase in hours, days, and weeks of work. Everything runs in your browser; nothing is uploaded.

How it works

First your pay is turned into an hourly figure: whatever basis you quote it in (per hour, week, month or year) is annualised using your schedule — hours per week × weeks per year — and divided back down to one hour. The purchase price ÷ that hourly rate is the hours of work it costs. Working days assume a five-day week (so a day is a fifth of your weekly hours), working weeks use your full weekly hours, and the month share is the price over a month's pay.

Set Keep after tax below 100% to reckon in take-home money instead of gross — what you can actually spend. Halve your net pay and everything doubles in work-hours, which is the honest way to feel a tax rate. This is a perspective tool, not budgeting or financial advice: it says nothing about your savings, debts, or what else the money could do.
